Peter Pan to make announcement

August 7, 2007

Sylvester --  Nearly six months after the ConAgra plant in Sylvester shut down because of Salmonella, they will make what they call a big announcement.

The Sylvester plant is expected to resume production later this month after correcting the problems that allowed salmonella bacteria to contaminate jars of Peter Pan Peanut Butter.

The contamination was caused by a roof leak and problems with the sprinklers.

A $15 million makeover at the plant repaired all of the problems that sickened more than 600 people nationwide.

Wednesday's announcement will include details about returning the product to store shelves.
