Cordele -- As we reported to you last week, Cordele Police Chief Dwayne Orrick was named President the of Georgia Association of Police Chiefs.

Chief Orrick, who has served in law enforcement for nearly 30 years, says he could not have achieved the position without the support of family and colleagues.

"This kind of thing does not happen unless you have three things: The support of the city commission, support of your officers to allow you to go out and do that kind of thing, and you have to have the support of your family. It's a real honor," said Orrick.

Orrick says the GAPC has over 500 police chief members from across the state of Georgia.
