Albany - - Area school children return to class next week. One Albany church wanted to give its students a boost to begin the year.

Greater Grace Church held its annual back to school rally Friday night. Teachers motivated students about starting the school year on a positive note. Parents also got to ask teachers questions about important tests and communicating with school staff.

Pastor Stephen Stallworth says the rally helps students get into gear.

"After summer vacation, to get back into an attitude of schooling, set their mindset to put god first and also to look at the transition that they will get back into as they go back to school," he says.

Children also performed different talents. At the end of the rally, every student walked away with a free backpack filled with school supplies and other goodies.
