Albany -- The South Georgia Wildcats are in the playoffs for the first time since the move to Albany, and will play a very familiar opponent on the road Saturday night.
The Cats make the return trip to Estero, Florida, and will take on the Firecats for the third time this season.
South Georgia has come out ahead in both of the first two meetings, including a 47-40 win in Florida a month ago.
Quarterback D. Bryant was in the playoffs last year with Manchester, and had his season end in Florida, so the Wildcats QB knows first-hand the success of the Firecats in the playoffs.
Bryant says, "We're very fortunate to be in the playoffs, and playing a team like Florida, who we beat twice. We know they're a good team, a good veteran team. They're used to being in the playoffs. So we're going to go down there and try and get another win this week."
Defensive back Matt Jackson adds, "There is no next week. Sometimes in the regular season you get caught up looking at the schedule, and looking ahead to who you have next week, but now in the playoffs it's one and done."
Saturday night's first-round playoff game kicks off at 7:30 pm in Florida.
