Adel - Georgia leaders like to boast that we have the best state parks in the nation.  Soon, they might have an award to prove it.

Georgia is one of three finalists for the National Recreation and Park Association's "Gold Medal Excellence in Park & Recreation Management" award.

It honors the best park system in the country.  Georgia is competing with Utah and Tennessee.

For park goers like Denice Hughes, it's an easy decision.

She comes to Reed Bingham State Park all the way from Florida and says Georgia parks are unlike any others.  "We love the atmosphere. Its relaxing, the people, the employees are just wonderful. It's wonderful for the kids, they can go swimming, golfing, play in the park, ride bikes! Its just awesome," she says.

To help with Judging, Georgia State Parks created a video featuring former President Jimmy Carter, Governor Sonny Perdue and many other state officials.

Only one park representative was chosen to be on the video, Jennifer Glover from Reed Bingham.
