Governor extends order for fire aid

August 2, 2007

Waycross - Governor Sonny Perdue continues to try to help the South Georgia timber industry that was decimated by wildfires that destroyed a half million acres this year.

Emergency crews are still working to remove damaged and dead timber.

To ease that process, the Governor extended an Executive Order that lifted restrictions for oversized trucks removing timber from the areas affected.

The original executive order was issued May 2nd.

The extension will keep the restrictions lifted through August 31st.
