Albany - Albany's Skip Nichols has a chance to become a legend in the Atlanta Motor Speedway's summer legends racing series.
Nichols has a chance to win a fifth Legends title in the final race of the season Thursday night in Hampton.
If he wins that title, Nichols would become just the second driver in the ten-year history of the program to win five championships.
Nichols has been racing in the Legends series since it started at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 1998 and says a record tying fifth title would be the highlight of his distinguished racing career.
Skip Nichols said "It would mean a lot at the age that I am getting now. I am not too far away from that 6-0 mark. I have got about 45-48 years of racing and a lot of championships. But I have never won five championships at the same track."
In nine races this season, Skip Nichols has posted three wins and eight top five finishes in the masters division.
