Cairo--  Friday night, two masked men entered the Quick Buys on the corner of Broad and Martin Luther King.

One of the men, armed with a handgun, struck the clerk on the head and forced him to open the register.  The men grabbed the cash and some cigarettes and took off.

Investigator Tony Turner with the Cairo Police Department says, "A customer that was in the store that they bypassed as they came in, he walked out and called 911, and we believe due to the fact that he was there and he called that quick, our response time, we kind of interfered with maybe, the getaway."

Shortly after the robbery, police arrested 21-year-old Cordel Johnson, the suspected gunman. They are still looking for the second suspect.
