Albany -- The first game of the year is less than a month away for the Albany State football team, and as far as the Rams are concerned, the season officially began Friday.
The team gathered at the field for its annual Kick-off reception.
The event is a time for the community to meet the new faces and old, and the players to slip on the Golden Rams jersey for the first time.
Head coach Mike White says while the get-together signifies the start of the season, it's not like it ever really ends for the four-time defending conference champs.
"Football is a year-round game," says White. "Recruiting. Lifting weights. Running in that sun. It's just the name of the game. We Rams are hard workers, and we had a good summer."
Albany opens the season at home August 25th against North Carolina Central.
