Workshop helps those with entrepreneur spirit

July 26, 2007

Albany -- Wouldn't it be nice to be your own boss? About a dozen entrepreneurs took a step closer to that goal.

The workshop at Albany's Micro Business Enterprise Center teaches people how to start their own business.

The class goes over everything from marketing research to estimating start-up costs.

"As we know, small businesses are the backbone of our nation," said UGA Small Business Area Director, Sue Ford. "It's a great opportunity for those people who have that entrepreneurial bud. But be sure that before you go out there and jump into it, that you take the time and do your research."

Ford said one of the biggest misconceptions about starting a business is that the government provide grants. It does not, but the center might be able to help entrepreneurs get small business loans.

The class is held once a month. Anyone interested can call 420-1144 to sign up.
