Community says goodbye to commissioner

July 26, 2007

Thomasville-- Thomas county commissioner Robert Holton was serving his fifth term when he died Saturday.

He was found in his car after it ran off Highway 319 in Thomas County. He's believed to have had a heart attack.

Long time friend and Thomas County Central High School principal said of Holton, "he's done his time. There will come a point will all of us will do our time and we move on. I think the greatest dream of any leader is that he sets a foundation that things will be better even when he's left."

His commission seat will be filled in a November election.
