Albany --   Albany is losing an athletic event that brings more than a half million dollars to the city each year.

The Special Olympics Fall Games will be held in Statesboro beginning next year. Albany hosted the games the last two years, and will again be the site of the event this October.

The Albany event has attracted more than 1500 athletes, coaches, and fans each year.

Albany did bid on the 2008-2010 games, but lost out to Statesboro.
