Thomasville-- Criminal justice professor Dr. Harry Bruno is now an honorary Georgia state trooper. Bruno is a long time proponent of law enforcement officers going back to school to get degrees.
Many of the troopers who attended the ceremony today were his former students. "Being able to help the troopers, in turn they help the community by being better educated. And they've been excellent students. They sort of take lead in the classroom and the younger students look up to them," said Bruno.
Rarely are people named honorary state troopers. It had to be approved by State Patrol headquarters in Atlanta.
