Albany - The only thing better than playing in a state baseball tournament.
Is to play in a state tournament on your own field.
Albany Dixie League is ready to host the Georgia Dixie Youth Baseball Major League All-Star tournament.
The tournament starts on Saturday and games will be played at Albany Dixie League field and at the Deerfield-Windsor softball field on Beattie Road.
The tournament will bring 16 teams to Albany all wanting to win the state championship.
The host Dixie All-Stars know they have the talent to win that state title and they hope their home field knowledge will also help.
Dixie All-Star Austin Murphy said "We have one of the longest fields in the state. I think we will definitely have a bigger advantage."
Dixie All-Star Brett Shepard said "it is very exciting. I have never played on this field with an all-star team. It is really exciting."
Albany Dixie plays Troup County on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Deefield-Windsor.
Albany International League will play Taylor County on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Dixie League field.
The DYB state tournament will end with a best two out of three series next week.
