Albany -- Two Dougherty County juries return verdicts of not guilty in two rape trials.

The jury deliberated two hours before finding 21-year old Santario Sheard not guilty of rape, aggravated assault, and aggravated sexual battery. Prosecutors say he beat and raped the mother of his child in March 2006. Sheard was on probation for weapons charges.  That probation was revoked because of this arrest and he has been ordered to finish serving ten years in prison.

Another rape trial in Dougherty County also ended with a not guilty verdict.  49-year old Lawrence Brown was charged with breaking into a South Albany woman's home in May 2006 and raping her at knife point,  but he was acquitted late Wednesday afternoon.
