Albany -- The tenth annual Challenge Cup golf tournament wrapped up at the Flint River Golf Course Sunday.
The tournament was played at Flint River for the first time this year, and the clubs were looking to knock off four-time defending champ Stonebridge.
River Pointe had a two-stroke lead over Stonebridge going into the final round, and ended the Stonebridge reign, as River Pointe wins with a final score of 537.
Grand Island is two shots back, followed by Stonebridge, Doublegate, and Flint River.
River Pointe member Gary Clark says the win was a long time coming.
"We won a few years ago," says Clark. "It seems like ancient history now. This is really good for the guys. We try every year, like everyone tries every year, and this is good."
Clark says his team made sure to have a fitting championship celebration.
"That was pretty cool, wasn't it? Yeah, the guys had a lot of champagne bubbly to spray on everybody. You don't get to do it very often, but it sure was fun this year."
Clark and teammate Chris Norman shot a 64 on the final day.
