Albany - One month into the Arena 2 football season and South Georgia defensive back Greg Golden not only had lost his starting job with the Wildcats.
He wasn't even getting to dress for games.
The move though only made Golden work harder to get back into the Wildcats lineup.
Head coach Derek Stingley praised Golden for his hard work on the practice field.
The hard work paid off for Golden who was back on the field in a special teams role.
Injuries to the defense got Golden even more playing time at linebacker.
Even though he is playing out of position, Golden was golden in last week's win at Florida with an interception return for a touchdown and a forced fumble.
The former N.C. State Wolfpack says he was happy to do what he could to help the Wildcats score a huge road win over a division opponent.
Helping the team was all he thought about when he was not on the field.
Greg Golden said "I sat out a couple of games and had time to sit back and reflect and think about a couple of things. I just felt like I wanted to help out the team anyway possible. Now, that I am back out there, I feel like I just have to make a play."
The South Georgia Wildcats moved up to fifth in this week's AF2 coaches poll.
The Wildcats host Texas Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Albany Civic Center.
