Mitchell County - - A four car wreck on US 19 in Mitchell County this afternoon sent three people to the hospital.

It happened north of Baconton about 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. Troopers say James Pollock was headed south on 19 when he ran into the back of a white pick up truck.

When they hit, Pollock's car was pushed into the middle of the highway. That's when another motorist, Sylvester Watkins, stopped to help.

Problem is, he parked his GMC truck behind the car also in the middle of the highway. That's when the red Hyundai side swiped his truck.

Pollock, Watkins and his passenger were all taken to Mitchell County hospital with minor injuries.

Pollock is charged with driving too close. Troopers say even though Watkins should not have stopped in the roadway, he won't be charged since he was only trying to help.
