Valdosta - A Valdosta businessman is running for City Council.

Tim Carroll wants to represent District five, the seat currently held by David Sumner.

Carroll is no stranger to community service.  He's served as Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, the Moody Air Force Base Military Affairs Committee and numerous other community committees.

Carroll is now looking for new ways to improve his district and the city.  "Its under threat from traffic and zoning pressures and increase in crime and those are my three top priorities I want to address as the next city councilman of Valdosta."

David Sumner served on the council nine years.  No word yet if he's seeking re-election.

The election will take place in November.
