Albany - When the South Georgia Wildcats hired Derek Stingley as their head coach, his mission was simple.
Get the team back into the Arena 2 playoffs.
And Stingley has delivered despite the fact his team has had to play the toughest schedule in the league.
The South Georgia Wildcats have officially clinched a playoff berth after their win Saturday at Florida and losses by Alabama and Tennessee Valley.
It is the first playoff berth for the Wildcats since moving to Albany three years ago.
If the Wildcats win their final three games, they will win the AF2 South Division title which would guarantee the Cats at least one playoff game here in Albany
Derek Stingley said "If we win on out then yes the division is ours. But the playoffs start a whole new season. So, we have got to roll into the playoffs on a high. We want to be playing some good football at the end of the year and now is the end of the year."
The South Georgia Wildcats are back at home this Saturday night when the playoff bound Wildcats host Texas Copperheads at 7:30 p.m. at the Albany Civic Center.
