Albany - A man convicted of murder over a two dollar bet is sentenced to life in prison plus five years.

50-year old Charles Gaillard was convicted in June of shooting and killing Richard Tyrone Hardwick at the Royal Pool Hall on East Broad Avenue last September.

Gaillard's lawyer said it was self-defense, but witnesses say Gaillard was mad with Hardwick over a $2.00 bet in a pool game.

Hardwick was shot between the eyes with a .22 caliber pistol.
