Terrell County -- Six neglected dogs, confiscated by Terrell County authorities, were euthanized Friday. The malnourished pit bulls were bred and trained to be fighting dogs.
The dogs were found on Veeney's Mill road just outside Parrot two weeks ago. Larry Thomas, who lived on the property, turned the dogs over to the Terrell County Code Enforcement after surrendering to law men.
The dogs were all killed by lethal injection at the Sumter County Humane Society. "For someone who is raising and fighting dogs and selling them like this, I have no use for them. It's not the animal's fault, it's people who do this," said Terrell County Code Enforcement Director, Martha Ann Coe.
Larry Thomas bonded out in Terrell County, but was later taken to Stewart County on an outstanding warrant. He also faces a probation violation in Sumter County.
Larry Thomas faces one felony charge and six misdemeanor charges for animal cruelty in Terrell County.
