Albany -- Demolition on an entire block of buildings in Albany is underway to make room for a new pharmacy.
Walgreen's purchased the triangular section of land between Gillionville, Pine, and Slappey Boulevard. Today, construction crews began the process of tearing down the buildings currently on site, to make room for the new store.
"Basically we're going to take these two buildings down and all this concrete parking lot right here so they can get started on the construction of Walgreens that's going to be located here," said Terry Mathis of the Construction Crew.
The demolition will be carried out in two phases. Two buildings and the parking lot in between will first be torn down, so construction on Walgreen's can begin. Then two other buildings will be demolished.
