Albany -- You could join a team that could help health professionals deal with disasters. The Southwest Health District is looking for volunteers to join a Medical Reserve Corps.

You don't need any healthcare experience to join. There are more that 650 MRC units in the country. Fourteen are in Georgia, but this will be the first to serve our area. Organizers hope to attract a large number of people with various skills.

"We also have to have people who are good at volunteer recruitment, people who may be involved with training, people who may be involved with fundraising because fundraising will be a portion," said Emergency Preparedness Specialist Travis Donnelly.

The corps will partner with area emergency response teams. The MRC grew from the President's request in his 2002 State of the Union address for people to help support their country.

If you're interested in volunteering you can go to the Southwest Health District.
