Thomasville -- Two Thomas county brothers were arrested and charged in a molestation case. One is accused of sexually assaulting a little girl, while the other is accused of not doing anything about it.

Investigators say 52-year-old Scottie Lewis molested a 5-year-old relative. They're trying to determine if he also molested an older girl.

Lewis was living with his brother Carter Lewis at the time.  Investigators charged Carter Lewis with cruelty to a child because he knew about prior molestation claims against his brother.

"We felt like the father had a responsibility to keep his child safe, knew the allegation had occurred and didn't do anything to remove the problem from the home, and because of that, the child was molested again," said Inv. Jason Carroll of the Thomas County Sheriff's Office.

Scottie Lewis is charged with child molestation and aggravated sodomy and was denied bond.  Both girls are now in the custody of family and children services.
