Valdosta - Georgia has some of the best roads in the country.
The Reason Foundation measured the performance of state-owned roads and highways from 1984 to 2005 in 12 categories including traffic fatalities, congestion, and highway maintenance.
Georgia roads were rated sixth overall.
Truck driver David Colestock has driven coast to coast and says this news comes as no surprise. "Georgia roads are good roads. The back roads, the U.S. Highway and the Interstates are pretty good roads. Nice and smooth ride."
This might come as a shock to any South Georgian living near Interstate 75, where construction has been ongoing for years.
But drivers say it's part of the job and shows the roads will continue to improve in years to come.
