Macon -- Georgia kicker Brandon Coutu suffered a freak injury last season, tearing his hamstring while attempting a new onside kick technique during an October practice.
The rising senior was able to recover without surgery, and was back on the field for the Bulldogs bowl game win against Virginia Tech.
Coutu says that experience should pay big dividends in the fall.
"It was hard, watching the team and being a cheerleader on the sidelines," says Coutu. "You just want to be out there helping the team as much as you can. I was very fortunate being able to kick in the bowl game. It did a lot for my confidence headed into next year."
Brandon Coutu and the Bulldogs open the season at home September first against Oklahoma State.
