Man says he was shot asking for gas

July 3, 2007

Albany  --  An Albany man was shot Tuesday morning,  but couldn't tell police where it happened.

Twenty-five-year-old Altolvis Chaney showed up at the emergency room just after midnight with a gunshot to his hip.

While he couldn't say where the shooting happened, people on West Broad Avenue called police and reported hearing gunshots around the same time of night.

Officers checked it out and found two shell casings, a .38 caliber revolver, and a shirt in front of some apartments.

Chaney then told police that he ran out of gas, asked a man for help and the man shot him.
