June 27, 2007

Albany-  Albany State University will get 3.4 million dollars in federal aid each year, for the next five years.  The money is part of a grant from the U.S. Department of Education under the Historical Black Colleges and Universities Institutional Program.

Congressman Sanford Bishop helped ASU secure the grant. The program helps provide financial assistance to strengthen academic resources at historically black colleges and universities.

ASU will use the grant to strengthen its academic programs, student tutoring, career development programs, the Center for the African American male, and develop a new entrepreneurship center.
