Thomas county murderer's appeal denied

June 26, 2007

Thomasville-- The Georgia Supreme Court unanimously upheld the conviction in a 16-year old Thomas County kidnapping-murder case.

Michael Griffin abducted and killed Jenny Rhames, his common-law wife in July 1991.  He admitted to an inmate he cut Rhames body and set his trailer on fire to hide the bloody scene. Her body was later found 10 miles from Griffin's girlfriend's home in McIntosh County.

In 2004, Griffin was convicted and sentenced to two life prison terms.  Yesterday, the Supreme Court denied all his appeals and noted that the evidence against Griffin was overwhelming.
