Tifton-  A soldier with ties to Tifton has died in combat in Iraq.  Army Sgt. Darren Hubbell was killed Wednesday June 20, 2007 along with three other soldiers when their convoy was struck by a roadside bomb.  Hubbell was a combat medic with the Army's Third Infantry Division and a veteran of the first Gulf War.

His ex-wife and two children sent his picture to WALB in 2003 as part of our America's Bravest Wall.  Hubbell's son Darren Junior of Tifton also served in Iraq and was injured in January during a roadside bomb attack.

Sgt. Hubbell was serving his third tour of duty in Iraq when he was killed.  A memorial service is being planned at Fort Stewart.
