Albany -- The gym at Albany State is filled with high school basketball teams this weekend, as the Rams host their sixth annual high school team camp.
Twenty-nine varsity and JV teams from Southwest Georgia, and a couple from Florida are on the campus grounds.
The camp started as a way to get the area teams some tough competition in the summer at a low cost.
Rams head coach Chris Cameron says when he was playing at Dougherty, the Trojans had to travel out of town to find competition during the summer.
Now in its sixth year, the Albany State camp has started attracting some of the best teams from Southwest Georgia and beyond.
"This is probably one of the more competitive summer camps we've had since we started six years ago," says Cameron. "We probably have five or six teams that really feel they can win the state in their region."
Albany State won the SIAC conference tournament and advanced to nationals in coach Cameron's first year on the job last season.
