VBS takes kids back in time

June 22, 2007

Thomasville--Thomas Episcopal church and day school are taking kids back in time to the days of a Jerusalem market place.

The kids dress up in costumes, and get to have hands-on experiences based on occupations in biblical times.   Interim Rector of the church, Pastor Judy Jones says, "experience is always a better teacher. They have the chance. . . the more senses you can involve, the more a child's going to learn."

The kids got some hands on practice in carpentry and pottery. Their marketplace also had a tent where they could taste herbs and spices, and a jewelry making tent. They even practiced writing hebrew letters on clay tablets in synagogue school.
