Albany - Some of the top high school baseball teams in Georgia and Florida are in Valdosta for the annual South Georgia Diamond Brawl.
The tournament, hosted by Lowndes High School's dugout club, has drawn 46 teams including state champions Greenbrier High from Evans and Sarasota High in Florida.
The capacity field means games will be played at eight different sites in Valdosta, Moultrie, Quitman, Adel and Nashville.
Summer tournaments like this will help coaches form their starting lineups for next spring and the Lowndes South Georgia Diamond Brawl is considered one of the top tournaments of its kind in the southeast.
Lowndes High baseball coach Danny Redshaw said "We have had the same teams come back year after year. We are full. We cannot take much more than 46 teams. I think that tells you how excited they are and how much they respect the competition in this tournament."
The South Georgia Diamond Brawl will run through Saturday.
