Albany-- It's the first day of summer and families are doing what they can to bear the high temperatures. The water fountains at River Front Park are a hot spot where many of them try to keep cool.

But the fountain isn't the only way families are trying to beat the heat. "Eat light, drink a lot of fluids, dress light and try to find a cool spot," said Xavian Thomas, who was visiting with his wife and daughter.

The fountains at River Front park did undergo minor repairs, but it is currently open for the summer and fall seasons.

Public restrooms are currently under construction in the area and will not be completed until sometime in July.
