Lowndes County - A Valdosta man who escaped from a Florida jail was arrested Wednesday along with his accomplice.

Deputies say 37-year-old David Daher walked off a work detail in Ocala, Florida, and jumped into a PT Cruiser driven by his 47-year-old girlfriend Tamara Retzloff, also of Valdosta.

Deputies at the Marion County Jail, where Daher had been for the last eight months, found recorded conversations between the two outlining the escape.

They notified the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office who found Daher hiding behind his mother's house. Retzloff was arrested at her work.

Daher is being charged with escape, Retzloff with aiding an escapee.

Daher had been scheduled to be released from jail July 7th.
