WALB tower in Doerun nears completion

June 20, 2007

Doerun -- It's been over one year since WALB's tower in Doerun toppled to the ground, and today, just a few months after construction started on WALB's and WFXL's new mega tower, signs of completion are in sight.

Radian construction workers were up in the clouds around 9 this morning bolting a digital antennae to the tower 800 feet above the ground.

Project supervisor Derek Flinn says, "It was a little windy, as you can see it (the antennae) was starting to blow around a bit when it got to the top. But it's up there now. The guys are bolting it on now."

The digital antennae is one of the final pieces of equipment to be installed on the mega tower. A final WALB antennae was also added this afternoon. Flinn hopes for construction to be completed by the first week of July.
