Albany - - People with Media Com cable service were treated Tuesday with some extra customer service.

The company held a customer appreciation outside of its office. White's Restaurant catered meals for customers and kids were treated to a surprise appearance from cartoon character, Dora the Explorer.

Recently the company launched local phone service and they wanted to thank customers for being patient with them as they worked out the kinks.

"We've had a few bumps in the road and we want to make sure that customers understand it's a new technology and if you try our phone service out. Were there to try to support you and try to help out with getting the phone service to work exactly the way its supposed to be working in your home," says Manager Darryl Chaney.

Media com CEO Rocco Commisso traveled from New York to thank employees for their work. The company has signed up more than 17,000 Georgia customers for phone service.
