Quitman - An autopsy confirmed that natural causes did not kill a Quitman infant.

The father of six week old Wesley Jermain Wyche, Junior to the Brooks County Emergency Room last Thursday.

The infant was not responsive.  Hospital employees quickly called police saying the baby's injuries were suspicious.

He died shortly after being airlifted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

His body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab to determine the cause of death.  "An autopsy was performed by the GBI medical examiner. The medical examiner found that it was not natural causes for the death. From there we initiated a death investigation," says Quitman Police Chief Wesley Ross.

Police would not yet release the details on how the infant died due to an ongoing two state multi-agency investigation.
