Infant death under investigation

Quitman - Police in Quitman are investigating the suspicious death of a six week old baby.

Wesley Jermain Wyche, Junior was brought to the Brooks County Emergency Room Thursday with unknown injuries.

The infant was quickly air lifted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, where he died later that night.

The hospital stated he had suspicious injuries and an investigation has been launched by the Quitman Police, the Department of Family and Children Services and Tallahassee's Child Protection Team.

The body of the infant has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Moultrie for autopsy.
