Employment Expo set for Albany Mall

Albany -- WALB TV is hosting an Employment Expo on Tuesday, June 19th at the Albany Mall Center Court.  The Expo is a networking event for job seekers to connect with South Georgia's top employers about job opportunities, and to learn about programs available to help increase earning potential and advance careers. 

Job openings in the fields of Education, Healthcare, Government, Law Enforcement, Military, Sales, Customer Service, Business, Business Management, Banking and Finance will be featured.

Representatives from instructional organizations like Abraham Baldwin College, Albany Technical College, Darton College, Albany State University and EmployAbility (in partnership with GA Dept of Labor - Vocational Rehabilitation Center will be on site to discuss programs available to help advance your career.

The Expo is sponsored by the Dougherty County School System who is currently recruiting teacher candidates in 10 different areas and has several other immediate openings to be filled.  Other participating employers include Colquitt Regional Medical Centers, Dougherty County Government, GA Department of Corrections, US Marine Corps, Cumulus Broadcasting, All-Tel, Papa Johns, Marine Corps Logistics Base, Central Monitoring, SunTrust Bank, TelePerformance and AIG.  For a complete list of participating employers, click here

    After nearly three months with a temporary roof, the Albany Museum of Art is now getting a permanent one. Albany Museum of Art’s Executive Director Paula Williams told WALB News 10 that the building sustained around $3 million worth of damage due to the January storms.

    A Dougherty County woman charged with killing her husband and staging it to look like suicide will face a judge Monday. Susan Embert is charged with the murder of her husband Jake Embert that happened back in 2014.
