Albany-- This Sunday is Father's Day and many retailers have seen a boost in sales. Just what are some of this year's popular items?
Even though it falls in the shadow of Mother's Day, local retailers are hoping that father's Day gifts will give mom a run for her money and so far store workers say sales have been brisk.
"Were selling a lot of Schimano reels such as the Calcutta's, both fresh and saltwater. A lot of Challenger Marsh Master rods that we have in for the bass fisherman are going really well. Costa Del-Mar sunglasses are a real hot item right now, we have sold numerous pairs and just a lot of people are coming in looking for things for their father's for Father's Day" said Backwoods Outdoors Manager Frank Herndon.
If personalizing a gift, or a more traditional one is needed Place on the Pointe has many unique ideas that store workers say are selling briskly this year.
"we have our shotgun shell cuff links and button covers for the dad who likes to dress up and go out and that sort of thing. We have monogram soap that we have done for dad and cute little cumberbun ties and regular ties. We have everything for dad, even the number one dad singing teddy bear" said Place On The Pointe manager Honey Hanson.
And finally a personal favorite of course, electronics that are sure to a bit pricey, but enjoyable none the less, but if all else fails just spending some extra time with dad will always do just fine.
