Smuggler gets federal sentence

Albany -- A Texas woman gets five years in prison for drug smuggling.

22-year-old Shelly Diane Ratliff pleaded guilty was convicted of trying to smuggle 35 pounds of pot into Albany.

She was arrested in Randolph County in May 2006 in a rented truck. The drugs were hidden in the spare tire.

Federal prosecutors say she admitted transporting kilograms of cocaine and marijuana from Mexico to Albany over a nine-month period.
