Americus --Dr. Kendall Blanchard is the new president of Georgia Southwestern State University.
He's been interim president since January and today the State Board of Regents voted to make his case an exception to it's policy excluding the interim president from consideration as a permanent President.
Blanchard succeeds Dr. Michael Hanes, who left Southwestern to become President of the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts in Pennsylvania.
