Two former Darton players taken in second day of MLB draft

June 8, 2007

Albany - Two former Darton College baseball players were selected in day two of the Major League Baseball player draft.

The Atlanta Braves took pitcher Brett Butts in the 19th round.

Butts transferred to Auburn two years ago and his uncle Allen is the Braves bullpen coach.

Luke Gordon, who set the single season hit record at Georgia State this year, was drafted in the 35th round by the Los Angeles Angels.

Another former Tift County Blue Devil, Israel Troupe was drafted by Colorado in the 31st round.

Troupe has signed to play football at Georgia and has said he would play football if he was not selected by a certain round.
