Newton --  Investigators have named a Mitchell County man a suspect in that Newton bank robbery Wednesday, and he is still on the loose.

Investigators say it was 47-year-old Walter Bernard Burns who robbed the Baker County Bank about 10:30 Wednesday.

They say the robber forced employees into the back of the bank, and told them to stay there for two hours.

Burns is about 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs around 300 pounds.

"We've taken arrest warrants for Walter Burns, who is from Mitchell County, and we believe he is still somewhere in the southwest Georgia area," said Agent Mike Lewis of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The robber never showed a weapon, but he did make off with a small amount of money.

If you know where Burns may be, you're asked to contact the Baker County Sheriff's Office or GBI.
