Albany - - The Thronateeska Heritage Center got a boost from supporters Thursday through a unique fundraising event.
Thronateeska hosted a "History is for the Birds Chair-ity Auction" at River Pointe Country Club.
Artists and donors contributed chairs and birdhouses to support the theme.
The highest bidders got to take the items home.
"The money raised here tonight will go towards supporting our history programs, our science programs that we have in our museum and science discovery center and planetarium," says Tommy Greggors.
The center depends on community donations.
Five thousand school kids visit the center each year and Thronateeska is also seeing a spike in attendance this summer.
