Albany -- An Albany man went on trial for murder Thursday accused of shooting a man over a two-dollar pool bet.

49-year old Charles Gaillard shot Richard Hardwick between the eyes with a 22-caliber pistol September 10th outside a pool hall on East Broad Avenue.

Gaillard's lawyer said the argument was over a two dollar bet that Hardwick lost and refused to pay. Gaillard claims it was self defense.

The jury was picked Monday. Opening statements were made this morning and testimony began this afternoon.
