Albany-- Some talented South Georgia senior citizens show off their latest golden creations.
The Albany Area Arts Council building downtown is full of colorful creations, all done by seniors. Once a week, members of the Sowega Council on Aging get together and spend time creating oil paintings.
Some of them are now on display as part of the 14th Annual Shades of Gold Art Show and Sale. Arts Council Executive Director Eddie McCarty says the paintings are proof of how passionate the seniors are about their art.
"Some of them are widows, some are not, but all of their children are grown and gone and they're at home by themselves now in the afternoons and this is therapeutic painting. It keeps their brain going, the synapses in between and it's just good for them," said McCarty.
The paintings will be on display for the next ten days between the hours of 9 and 5 at the Albany Arts Council building located at 215 North Jackson Street.
