Lowndes County -- A large Around 7:30 Monday night, a large sinkhole began to develop on Snake Nation Road in Lowndes County. The hole has continued to grow and is now about 25 feet deep and 20 feet wide.

The county has had to re-route traffic around the sinkhole. The county has a tentative timeline for when the road will reopen.

 "A week to two weeks, because after we get the sinkhole sealed up, we're going to bring in some drilling equipment and do some test drills around the area," said County Engineer Mike Fletcher.

The county will begin repairing the roadWedesday morning.
